Silutitan sinensis
(Silk Road Giant from China)Etymology
Silutitan is derived from the Chinese Mandarin pinyin "Silu" (Silk Road), in memory the great trade routes which connected the East and West, and the Greek "titan" (giant), referring to the large size of this genus.
The species epithet, sinensis, means "from China" in Latin.

Discovery
The remains of Silutitan were discovered in the Shengjinkou Formation (Tugulu Group) at Hami, Xinjiang, China, by the Hami field team of the IVPP in 2016.The holotype (IVPP V27874) is a series of six neck vertebrae with almost all ribs attached. The remains were associated with a lower jaw of a pteranodontoid pterosaur called Hamipterus.
