Afromimus tenerensis

(African mimic from Ténéré)Etymology
Afromimus is derived from the Latin "Afro" (African) and the Greek "mimos" (mimic), referring to its initial identification as a member of Ornithomimosauria—the "Ostrich mimics". The species epithet, tenerensis, means "from Ténéré" in Latin.
Discovery
The remains of Afromimus were discovered at the Gadoufaoua locality in the Elrhaz Formation, Ténéré Desert, Niger, during a Paul Sereno-led expedition in 1997.
The holotype (MNBH GAD112) consists of seven partial tail vertebrae and two chevrons, a rib fragment, and portions of a right lower leg.
