Discovery

The remains of
Issi were discovered in the Malmros Klint Formation (Fleming Fjord Group) at the Macknight Bjerg site, Jameson Land, central East Greenland, by William W. Amaral, William R. Downs, Stephen M. Gatesy, Neil H. Shubin, Niels Bonde and Farish Jenkins on 27 July, 1991. The
holotype (NHMD 164741) is a nearly complete sub-adult skull. A paratype skull (NHMD 164758) was found in the same area in 1995.
