Chuxiongosaurus lufengensis
(Chuxiong Lizard from Lufeng)Etymology
Chuxiongosaurus is derived from "Chuxiong" (the administrative unit to which the holotype site belongs) and the Greek "sauros" (lizard).
The
species epithet,
lufengensis, means "from Lufeng" in Latin.
Discovery
The remains of
Chuxiongosaurus were discovered in the Lufeng Formation, Zhongcun Town, Lufeng County, Chuxiong Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China.
The
holotype (CMY LT9401) is a nearly complete skull including a lower jaw.
