"Microdontosaurus dayensis"
"Microdontosaurus" lived in what is now the Dabuka Formation of Tibet alongside "Megalosaurus dapukaensis", "Ngexisaurus dapukaensis", "Lancangjiangosaurus cachuensis" and "Changdusaurus laminaplacodus". Funnily enough, they were all coined without species names in the 1983 PhD thesis of Zhao Xijin (aka Chao Shichin), who intended to publish full descriptions in the official version of the same manuscript later the same year. Unfortunately, it was rejected by the IVPP as unpublishable, and a revised paper was never submitted, so the aforementioned critters have to suffer the indignity of being enclosed in quotes to denote their unofficial status. They were afforded brief mention, attached to a full binomen, in a paper by the same author in 1985/6. But they still haven't been described, and Zhao, it seems, has deserted them.
"Microdontosaurus" was assigned to Oskar Kuhn's Homalosaurpoidea, which is a long-outdated grouping of "peg-toothed" diplodocid and titanosaurian sauropod dinosaurs, but is most likely a member of Titanosauriformes. Widegauge sauropod trackways suggestive of a large titanosauriforme have been discovered in Tibet's Middle Jurassic-aged Dapuka Formation, too. They may have been made by "Microdontosaurus", though locals attribute them to their Mountain Deity, who left them behind as he fled noisy workers who were building the No. 214 State Highway to connect Changdu County with Bangda Airport.

(Small-toothed lizard from Daye)Etymology
"Microdontosaurus" is derived from the Greek "mikros" (small), "odont" (tooth) and "sauros" (lizard). The species epithet, dayensis, was added by Zhao in 1985 and means "from Daye" in Latin.
Discovery
The remains of "Microdontosaurus" were discovered in the Dapuka Formation (Chaya Group) at Dabuka village, Daye District, Qamdo (aka Chamdo or Changdu) Prefecture, Tibet, during Chinese Academy of Sciences expeditions during the 1970s.
A holotype has yet to be assigned.
