Yuxisaurus kopchicki
(Kopchick's Yuxi Lizard)Etymology
Yuxisaurus is derived from "yuxi" (for Yuxi Prefecture) and the Greek "sauros" (lizard).
The species epithet, kopchicki, honours Dr. John J. Kopchick in recognition of his contributions to biology and the IUP Science Building.

Discovery
The remains of Yuxisaurus were discovered in the Fengjiahe Formation near Jiaojiadian village, Yimen County, Yuxi Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China, by a field crew from Yimen Administration of Cultural Heritage.
The holotype (CVEB 21701) is a partial skull and skeleton, including four articulated neck vertebrae, five back vertebrae, two partial shoulder blades, right upper arm, partial left thigh, more than 120 osteoderms and several unidentifiable elements.
