Discovery
The remains of
Aristosaurus were discovered in the Clarens Formation by quarry workers near Roosendal, Senekal District, Ficksburg, Free State, South Africa.
The
holotype (TM 130) is an almost complete skeleton, preserved on a slab and counter slab.
