Fujianvenator prodigiosus

Fujianvenator is derived from "Fujian" (for Fujian Province, where the holotype was discovered) and the Latin "venator" (hunter).
The
species epithet,
prodigiosus, means "bizarre" in Latin.
Discovery
The remains of
Fujianvenator were discovered in the Nanyuan Formation near Yangyuan Village, Zhenghe County, Fujian Province, China, during joint expeditions by the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and
Paleoanthropology (IVPP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Fujian Institute of Geological Survey (FIGS), in October and November of 2022.
The
holotype (IVPP V31985) is a partial articulated skeleton preserved on a slab and counterslab.
