Deinodon horridus

Deinodon is derived from the Greek "deinos" (terrible) and "odon" (tooth).
The species epithet, horridus, means "rough" in Latin.

Discovery
The first remains of Deinodon were discovered in the Judith River formation, Nebraska Territory, Montana, USA, by Dr Ferdinand Vandeveer Hayden in 1854.
The holotype (ASNP 9534) is nine tooth fragments.
