Tralkasaurus cuyi

Tralkasaurus is derived from the Mapudungun word "tralka" (thunder) and the Greek "sauros" (lizard). The
species epithet,
cuyi, refers to the village of El Cuy.

Discovery
The remains of
Tralkasaurus were found in the Huincul Formation at Violante Farm on the north shore of Ezequiel Ramos Mexía Reservoir, near the village of El Cuy, Río Negro Province, Argentina, by Sebastián Apesteguía in 1999. The
holotype (MPCA-Pv 815) includes a partial upper jaw, vertebrae from the back, hip and tail, some ribs, and a badly-preserved pubic bone.
