Llukalkan aliocranianus

In Mapudungun, the language of the indigenous Mapuche people of south-central Chile and southwestern Argentina.
Llukalkan means "one who scares".
The
species epithet,
aliocranianus, means "different skull" in Latin.

Discovery
The remains of
Llukalkan were discovered at La Invernada in the Bajo de la Carpa Formation (Neuquén Group), 50 km southwest of Rincón de los Sauces city, Neuquén province, Argentina, in 2015, just 700 metres from another abelisaurid called
Viavenator exxoni.
The
holotype (MAU-Pv-LI-581) is a partial skull.
