Bayannurosaurus perfectus

Bayannurosaurus is derived from "Bayannur" (the name of the general geographic area where the fossils were found) and the Greek "sauros" (lizard). The species epithet, perfectus, refers to the perfect preservation of the holotype skeleton.
Discovery
The remains of Bayannurosaurus were discovered in the Bayingebi Formation at Chulumiao, less than 7km north of Chaogewenduer Town, Urad Rear Banner, Bayannur, Nei Mongol (Inner Mongolia), China, by a joint expedition of the Long Hao Institute of Geology and Paleontology and the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, during the summer of 2013. The holotype (IMMNH PV00001, housed at the Inner Mongolia Museum of Natural History, Hohhot, Inner Mongolia), is a nearly complete, semi-articulated skeleton, including the entire tail.
