The species epithet, zhuchengensis, means "from Zhucheng" in Latin.
Discovery
The remains of Sinoceratops were discovered in the Hongtuya Formation (Wangshi Group) at Zangjiazhuang Quarry, Zhucheng City, Shandong Province, China, by a team from the Zhucheng Dinosaur Museum in the summer of 2008.
The holotype (ZCDM V0010) is a partial skull with most elements of the skull roof and partial braincase. Referred specimens from the same quarry include a partial skull with much of the skull roof and most of the braincase (ZCDM V0011) and a braincase (ZCDM V0012).
