Jinchuanloong niedu

[Jinchuan Dragon of Nickel City] Etymology
Jinchuanloong is derived from "Jinchuan" (for Jinchuan district) and the Chinese "long" (dragon). The species epithet, niedu, combines the Mandarin Chinese "Nie" (nickel) and "Du" (city), referring to Jinchang: a city famous for its rich nickel resources.
Discovery
The remains of Jinchuanloong were discovered in the Xinhe Formation, Jinchuan District of Jinchang City, Gansu Province, China, by Li Daqing in 2017. The holotype (JCMF 0132) is an associated partial skeleton including a nearly complete skull, five neck vertebrae, twenty-nine tail vertebrae, plus some fragmented tail ribs and chevrons. Between the neck and tail vertebrae, impressions of the pelvic girdle and hip vertebrae are preserved.
